Overview The College of Liberal Arts offers more than two dozen
undergraduate programs as well as minors and graduate degrees.
Every student who begins their educational journey at UCO will take
numerous courses in the College of Liberal Arts. As such, it is the

Gerontology, and Substance Abuse Studies offers personalized
classes with the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking and
problem-solving activities using traditional and new technological
approaches. The Department combines service learning and practicum
experiences at local, national, and even at a global level.
Students have the opportunity to support the health and wellness of
their community, environment in which they live if they are
interested in looking to have a deeper understanding of humankind,
thrive when working with others and enjoy a humanistic approach,
want a broad skill set that enables them to make fair, rational
decisions, want to focus on people and their interactions with
others and the world. The departmental degree programs can help
prepare students for a large variety of career paths such as
becoming a counselor, social worker, geriatric advocate, or data
analyst, etc., or if the student is just interested in what is
going on in the world.Position Overview Provide in-person and/or
online academic tutoring to students while supporting and
maintaining an effective and positive learning
environment.Department Specific Job FunctionsStudent tutor for SOC
4043/5043 - Sociological Statistics and/or SOC 4773/5773 -
Sociological Statistics: The student tutor's main function will be
to assist other students in understanding course material presented
in-class and/or online and to assist the Instructor in various
capacities to support student comprehension and learning. The
student tutor must be personable and be able to clearly
communication abstract ideas effectively to others. The student
tutor must have great communication skills, patience, and be able
to work a flexible schedule. Confidentiality is required.Special
Instructions for ApplicantsApplicants will be required to attach a
cover letter and their current official UCO
transcriptQualificationsEnrollment RequirementsFall/Spring
Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half
time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time
enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and
6 hours for undergraduates. International students shall be
enrolled full time to be eligible to work as a student worker. Full
time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours
for undergraduates. Summer Semester: All student employees must be
enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work a
regular student position. Students not enrolled in summer classes
must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but
they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes.
Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to
graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required to work,
the student must obtain a letter from his/her Academic Advisor,
stating the number of hours needed to graduate, and submit it to
Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work

verbal skillsStudent must be flexible in scheduling tutoring

intercultural communication, and good interpersonal skillPhysical
