Location: U.S. Remote (Fully remote)Zoetis is the world's leading animal health company. We're building services that improve beef traceability, help farmers manage their daily cattle feeding operations, track individual animals, identify and treat sick animals promptly, and automate bookkeeping. Our services span the web, iOS, and specialized hardware, using the cloud to communicate and store data. The engineering team primarily works from home and is well adapted to accommodate candidates located anywhere with reliable internet service. The development environment consists of AWS, FreeBSD, PHP, Go, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, and MySQL, along with iOS apps.This opening is for a Software Engineer, Web expecting to work on a team focused on improving our web code, written in PHP, HTML, and jQuery.Responsibilities:

• Design and develop software for successful project completion.
• Ensure long term viability of the code base.
• Respond as necessary to operational emergencies, possibly after working hours.
• Provide customers with intuitive, high-quality products and services.
• Communicate effectively with other project engineers .
• Mentor Associate Software Engineers.
• Work closely with upper-level engineers to advance professional development.Skills and Qualifications:
  • Desire and skill for web development in PHP and jQuery.
  • Proficiency in the following is helpful:
  • API development in Go.
  • App development for iOS or Android.
  • Embedding software in appliance-like devices, such as Raspberry Pi.
  • Proficiency programming with database servers, preferably MySQL or MongoDB.
  • Proficiency programming with relevant network protocols, such as HTTP or RabbitMQ.
  • Daily experience in the Unix software stack and command line interface.
  • Experience collaborating with five or more developers, preferably through Git, code review, design discussion, documentation, and video conferencing.
  • Ability to self-direct in root-cause analysis for moderately difficult bugs and implementation of meaningful preventive action such as unit testing.Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of field experience.
