in healthcare. About the Role: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
specializing in Wound Care plays a critical role in providing
comprehensive nursing care to patients with acute and chronic
wounds. This position focuses on assessing, treating, and managing
various types of wounds to promote healing and prevent
complications. The LPN will collaborate closely with physicians,
wound care specialists, and other healthcare professionals to
develop and implement individualized care plans. Through meticulous
documentation and patient education, the LPN ensures continuity of
care and supports patients in understanding their treatment
regimens. Ultimately, this role aims to improve patient outcomes by
delivering expert wound care in a compassionate and efficient
manner. Minimum Qualifications: Current and valid Licensed
Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Oklahoma. Completion
of an accredited practical nursing program. Basic Life Support
(BLS) certification. Demonstrated experience or clinical exposure
in wound care or related nursing practice. Strong understanding of
infection control practices and wound healing principles. Preferred
Qualifications: Experience working in outpatient clinics, long-term
care facilities, or home health settings with a focus on wound
management. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR)
systems. Strong communication skills with experience in patient
education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Responsibilities:
Perform thorough wound assessments, including measuring,
documenting, and photographing wounds to monitor healing progress.
Administer wound care treatments such as cleaning, dressing
changes, debridement assistance, and application of prescribed
topical medications. Monitor patients for signs of infection or
other complications and promptly report findings to the supervising
nurse or physician. Educate patients and their families on wound
care techniques, hygiene, and lifestyle modifications to support
recovery and prevent recurrence. Maintain accurate and detailed
patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and
facility policies. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to
coordinate care plans and participate in wound care rounds or case
conferences. Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and
safety standards during all wound care procedures. Skills: The LPN
will utilize clinical assessment skills daily to evaluate wound
status and identify any changes requiring intervention. Proficiency
in wound care techniques and infection control ensures safe and
effective treatment delivery. Communication skills are essential
for educating patients and coordinating with healthcare team
members to optimize care plans. Documentation skills are critical
for maintaining accurate records that support continuity of care
and compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally,
problem-solving and critical thinking skills enable the LPN to
respond promptly to complications and adapt care strategies as
needed.
