Registered Nurse (RN) | Correctional Location: Watonga, OK Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,956 per week Shift Information: 3 days Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/23/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Must be willing to work days or nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours/week guaranteed Experience: One year of professional nursing experience preferred License: Current licensure in the state of employment Certifications: None specified Must-Have: Graduate from an accredited college, university or nursing program with a degree/diploma in nursing. Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. This includes executing provider orders, dispensing and administering medications, and assisting providers in examinations and treatments of patients. This role applies nursing and supervisory techniques required in the care, treatment, and referrals of individuals. The RN performs all technical and clinical procedures within the scope of their education and licensure. Appropriate nursing skills are applied in the treatment of individuals. The RN attends sick calls with the physician to see individuals, prepares a list of individuals to be examined, and prepares the examining room and equipment. The RN operates pill call, dispenses medication, and documents as required by applicable policies and procedures. The role involves calling providers for medication and treatment orders, and/or other emergencies. The RN examines and assesses new individuals with illnesses or injuries or those who become ill or injured, referring them to the emergency room or other appropriate healthcare facilities as required. Emergency procedures are performed as needed, and providers are notified for treatment orders. The RN assists in coordinating professional medical services provided by contract personnel, ensuring their needs are addressed. The position may involve monitoring inpatient hospitalizations for early releases whenever appropriate. Guidance, supervision, and monitoring of nursing care provided by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff are also required. Maintaining a good working relationship with facility staff, nursing staff, and outside provider agencies is essential. The RN utilizes established corporate and facility policies and procedures in decision-making while using sound independent judgment. Regular evaluation of the provision of medical services is conducted to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of those services. Maintaining the security and confidentiality of all medical records is critical. The RN assists with the review of medical files to ensure all provided services are documented. Monitoring potential catastrophic illnesses is a key responsibility. Auditing pharmacy use for adherence to formulary is conducted as directed or required. Compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances, is necessary. The RN observes and records individual behavior. Inspection of the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband is required. Health counseling and education on an individual or group basis may be provided as necessary. The RN assists in preparing and maintaining various records, reports, and logs, processing all reports and documents in a timely manner. Reading, analyzing, comprehending, and interpreting medical and technical procedures, rules, and legal documents is part of the role. The RN reviews, processes, and responds to lawsuits, attending court hearings when necessary. Evaluating and recommending physical safety requirements necessary for a safe working environment is required. Facilitating accreditation of the medical program by providing efficient and appropriate medical services is part of the role. Preparing and disseminating safety and accident reports as needed is essential. The RN escorts individuals or coordinates their movement to and from different areas for medical treatment. Performing searches of people and objects likely to conceal contraband is involved. Engaging in functions in confined areas, including working rotating shifts, is necessary. Taking appropriate action to prevent disruptive situations is a key responsibility. Rescue functions at accidents and emergencies, including administering basic emergency medical aid, are included in the role.
