MRI Technologist Profession: Clinical Professional Specialty: MRI
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 2:30 PM
- 11:00 PM (30-min lunch) Experience: Zero (0) to six (6) months of
related experience required License: Registration from the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R) or American Registry
of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) Certifications:
BLS Must-Have: - Knowledge of anatomy and physiology - Ability to
organize and prioritize work effectively Description: Operates
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce
cross-sectional images of the patient body for diagnostic purposes.
Performs MRI examinations according to department policy and
protocols. Prepares and positions patients for MRI procedures of
various parts of the body. Sets up equipment and positions patients
for optimal imaging results. Performs quality control tests on
department equipment and reports discrepancies. Collects and
evaluates examination information from scheduling, patients, and
referring physicians. Maintains departmental records and patient
information according to policy. Responds to patient physical and
psychological needs. Keeps patients informed and explains
procedures clearly to alleviate anxiety. Listens to and answers
patient questions with patience and courtesy. Implements safety
procedures for outpatients, inpatients, and staff. Screen patients
and personnel for any metal objects or implants that could cause
harm. Ensures that no one enters the scan room with metal objects
or contraindicated implants. Evaluates scanning procedure results
for quality and completeness. Manipulates images using console
keyboard and mouse for physician review. Selects image display
options using terminal. Recognizes problems and rectifies them
regarding operations and selections made. Sends images to the PACS
system, evaluates exams for completeness, and verifies in a timely
manner. Develops a working knowledge of all PACS capabilities.
Maintains accurate documentation on logbook worksheets and charges
for examinations and supplies. Seeks advice from appropriate
resources when uncertain of protocols or policies. Exercises
independent judgment in planning operational sequences and making
decisions. Works directly with patients and/or customers, both face
to face and via telephone. Collaborates with other healthcare
professionals and staff. Requirements Required for Onboarding BLS
