Experience: 1 year of experience required License: Current RN
License from a state nursing board, or a current multistate compact
RN License Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification
from the American Heart Association Must-Have: SD and MS
experience, ACLS required Description: Under general supervision,
provides nursing care in a hospital setting to various patients
with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes
responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient
responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical
treatments. Notes all changes in physician orders for assigned
patients. Assists the physician in the examination of patients and
in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains
and monitors physiological data of patients. Observes physiological
manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary.
Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and
monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient
care competently. Interacts with family and patients in sharing the
care plan while in the hospital and at discharge. Informs patients
and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding
patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to
support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates
knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques,
and procedures. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate
nursing services and apply nursing techniques. Maintains good
working relationships with other employees. Possesses good verbal
and written communication skills. Responds effectively to cultural
and language needs of patients and visitors. Demonstrates some
computer skills. Education: Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing
from an accredited program. Preferred: Bachelor of Science in
Nursing from an approved program.
