Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Job Specialty: General Medical/Surgical Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights 3x12 Hr Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience License: Current RN License issued by a state board of nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC). Certifications: - Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association - ACLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program - Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures - Good verbal and written communication skills - Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors - Some computer skills Job Description: - Provide nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health issues ranging from simple to complex. - Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients. - Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. - Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. - Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary. - Administer medication as prescribed and initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products. - Deliver patient care competently. - Interact with family and patient to share the care plan while in the hospital and at the time of discharge. - Inform patients and families of hospital procedures. - Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. - Delegate tasks to support staff. - Perform other duties as assigned.
