Job Description:
Summary of Responsibilities:
Oversee grant requirements, work closely with project evaluator and
manage all responsibilities associated with the grant. Provide
direct care services counseling services to individuals as required
in the grant core activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide individual, family and group counseling sessions,
including same business day visits
- Coordinate implementation of Tribal 988 Response with grant
evaluator and grant service providers
- Responsible for day-to-day management and oversight of the
grant
- Develop grant project policy and procedure, if needed
- Maintain integrity and appropriate use of grant funds and
resources
- Attend required trainings and grantee meetings
- Organize and facilitate, if needed, cultural competency
training for Crisis Call Center staff
- Organize information and work closely with project
evaluator
- Accountable to the community and Business Committee, Advisory
Board and Principal Investigator for appropriate conduct of
grant
- Work with community stakeholders including other Iowa Tribe
Departments, Community Partners, Public Schools in the Iowa Tribe
service area and Justice system
- Data entry for grant requirements in specific grant
database
- Coordinate project with other behavioral health programs as
needed
- Act as a resource and provide leadership in community groups
and with co-workers
- Participate in weekly staff meetings with behavioral health
staff membersReport to Director of Behavioral Health
- Provide monthly reports to Director of Behavioral Health
- Other duties as assigned Education and Experience:
- Masters' Degree Required in a behavioral health related
field
- Licensed with respective licensing board (i.e., LPC, LADC,
LMFT, LSCW)
- 2 Years' Experience in Behavioral Health Field Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge and understanding of American Indian
culture
- Willingness to learn all aspects of the grant and be able to
educate the community on the grant purpose
- Knowledge and understanding of Principles, procedures, methods,
and techniques of behavioral health practices
- Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability
Act (HIPAA) in regard to confidentiality and the release of
behavioral health information
- Ability to complete appropriate screening tools and evaluations
for best care
- Ability to work with others and utilize excellent interpersonal
skills
- Ability to educate clients, community members, and school
administration on behavioral health and prevention related
issues
- Ability to document behavioral health interactions in
electronic medical records
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
and internet resources
- Experience counseling individuals with substance abuse and
mental health disorders Travel and Special Conditions:
- Travel within the jurisdiction area
- Travel outside the jurisdiction area to meetings, community
events and grant maintenance as needed Certifications:
- Valid Driver's License and Insurance.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 6 months of employment.

- Must pass background investigations for suitability of
character identified in accordance with the Indian Child Protection
and Family Violence Prevention Act.
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Hepatitis A&B, Tdap, MMR and Varicella vaccinations, proof
of previous vaccinations or proof of positive titer.
