College/Department Overview The College of Education and Professional Studies currently has 100 full-time and over 100 part-time faculty organized in seven departments. The college offers 23 undergraduate majors and 28 graduate majors. All teacher education programs are CAEP accredited. Other programs are recognized at the state and national levels with accreditations by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), and the Oklahoma Educational Quality and Accountability Commission (OEQA). UCO--------s College of Education and Professional Studies has an enrollment of nearly 4,800 students, about one-fourth of whom are graduate students. For further information see our website at http://www.uco.edu/ceps. Position Overview Visiting faculty are employed by the university to teach or perform research for a limited time. This is a non-tenure track, temporary position. Service or research may be expected. Department Specific Essential Job Functions Required to teach a standard load (12 hours) per semester of undergraduate and graduate coursese, and to engage in scholarly/creative activities appropriate to the position. Serves on committees at all levels in the University. Will participate in program evaluation and assessment activities. Performs University-related professional service, which may include advising students on a limited basis. In addition,it is important to engage in the professional safety community, and foster the relationships that exist between the Industrial Safety program and external stakeholders in the local, state and regional area. Must have the knowledge and experience to teach a variety of safety-related courses that support those learning outcomes specified by the Educational Standards Committee of ASSP: (Hazard Identification, Evaluation and Control; Business and Risk Management Concepts; Industrial Hygiene; Environmental Science; Fire Science; Hazardous Materials; Emergency Management; Ergonomics and/or Human Factors; Evaluation of Safety, Health and Environmental Programs; Adult Learning Theory and Training Methodology; Standards, Regulations and Codes; and Accident Investigation.) Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications/Experience Required An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Qualifications/Experience Preferred An earned Masters degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internaltionally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval.) Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. NOTE If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to Visiting Instructor. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Practical experience in the occupational and environmental health and safely field is required and demonstrated effectiveness in classroom teaching is preferred. In addition, experience working with a learning management system is required. Examples include D2L, Blackboard and Moodle. Experience in the creation, modification, and delivery of online coursework is required. The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to education of diverse populations. Physical Demands Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Regular physical attendance required.
